Friends are Fantastic! Baton Rouge, North Carolina

The tour has been great so far.  We love North Carolina and this time around did not disappoint.  We played with Angwish (Bryan is one of our favorites!)  The Several Devils Band is a new rock group that takes classic to a whole new level and Albert from Eyes Goes Ligthenging is a great songwriter.   A Tin Djinn blew our minds with their trio awesomeness.  We can’t forget Barbara Barnes creator of ART IMAGES LIVE who came to both gigs and drew all of the artists during the show.  Incredible work you can see on our facebook. 

In Baton Rouge we stayed with friends and reconnected with the most talented young musicians! Once again Taylor from You know who and Alex and Jordan from The Chambers elevated the night with kick ass guitar playing and great songs!  We also met Simple Interests, 4 guys who have a tight rock sound and are easy on the eyes.  

As for FINER, we recorded some vocals for our new EP…in a baby’s bedroom.  Nothing says Rock and/or Roll like a Crib…a literal crib.  We also played several new songs that we are so excited about and so were the crowds.  It’s always nice when what you have been working on gets unleashed and received with love.  Thank you everyone!

2nd leg of the tour complete!

We are SO HAPPY! 3 Great shows this past week! Staunton, VA was magical.  Possibly the coolest experience we’ve had.  4 floors at the Pompei Lounge and we played on the 3rd and 4th floor.  So many people helped us get our gear up the stairs and we THEN they hung out and sang with us.  We loved it!  NEW YORK, what can I say, all our friends and family came to Spike Hill, the sound was perfect…thank you Dan! And the venue and other artists performed their hearts out.  Maryland…we sat for 8 hours in traffic but it was worth. June 21st is my favorite day of the year. The weather was beautiful and the views were even better.  My brother and his family helped us hustle into the venue to play on time. It was like having a road crew that had just trained for a marathon.  Fast and determined.  We loved playing and the audience hung out for all the acts who all kicked ass at Chapala Blue Beatle Bar!  

Thank you to everyone who helped us get this going.  We’ll be recording for the next week and then we’ll be heading to Kentucky to play and then back to recording.  Ethan plays with Badi Assad for two weekes and then leg three kicks off in North Carolina Mid July.  All good things! THE END OF THE BEGINNING…next week Memphis

We appreciate Orlando and Daytona! We played with three wonderful bands with three very different sounds! Empire Theory is on the fast track to success and with great reason! These guys put on a show and it was not even with their full rocked out set up! We were very impressed and enjoyed ourselves tremendously.  They were also incredible to us as we played. They hung on every word and engaged with us our entire set!  Thank you!  

Up next, The Welzeins are well on their way to creating a garage rock explosion.  This duo was so cool and had blazing punk rock songs.  It was a pleasure to be their screaming fan!  

In Daytona Beach we played with the lovely guys from Northe, a Jacksonville rock band, blending new wave and pop with expert melodies.  It’s not easy to be a new band, but these guys handle themselves with a lot of poise.  

As for us, the first leg of this two year journey is over.  We get a beautiful week and a half in NY to record and book more shows and animate(THANK YOU ETHAN!).  We are going to enjoy our families and connect with music that is going to be on the next EP.  THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! to everyone we have met, the venues we have played and the bands that have shared the stage with us.  This is a dream come true!

Finer in Baton Rouge, LA

The good things that happened this week are worth mentioning.  We played in Baton Rouge! Our life long friends let us crash for a week and we got a lot of new music done and researched some great opportunities for the future and we enjoyed Bluesfest!  Thank you to HTGT thrift for having us. The audience  and new friends were incredible and to You know Who, Hide Your Desperate Eyes and The Chambers for playing with us.  All the bands were so young and SO TALENTED!  We know we will be hearing more great things from them soon.  Thank you Louisiana! It was a pleasure. 

Hug the ones you love

I don’t have answers for what happened today, but I do know that I love Boston.  My time at Brandeis University was the most challenging experience I have ever had.  Mental health issues are not funny and they are not fun.  I lost a lot of friends and spent many days and nights wondering if I would ever feel better.  When my cloudy mind started to clear I tried to get involved in any activity that surrounded me with people.  Good people. Happy people. Driven people.   I found them in Massachusetts. I found them in Cambridge. I found them in Waltham.  I found them in Boston.  My dean would literally walk me to class.  My roommates would spell check my papers and made sure I was always invited to whatever they were doing.  My former sorority sisters took turns making sure that someone was there to hold me.    The director of my theater group would let me sit in her rehearsals all night.  Any rehearsal on any night and music teachers all across the city encouraged and taught me how to tap into my creative heart.   My crew coach and teammates let me stay with them and kept bringing me back on the team even when I was awful to be around.   And that was the thing.  How many chances does a person get to be worthy of love and worthy of someone’s time?  I never really did anything wrong or hurt anyone.  I was just not in my right mind.  But people kept pulling for me.  They kept hoping for me to find my way.  And I did.  I did it in Boston.  I got to see an entire school and state of people staking their claim on the future.  Setting themselves up for a lifetime of contribution.  It gave me hope.  It gave me something to live for.  Thank you Boston.  Thank you for the possibility.  I hope that peace comes to you soon.  I hope one day soon I can give to you what you gave to me.  A chance to be happy again.

Thank you OHIO! This week back in Indy opening for GALLO

Ohio, what can I say.  I love every person that  I met!   Thank you Buzzbin and thank you The Patio Tavern.  We met great artists and hung with quality folks.  Now we are back in Indianapolis with friends and family gearing up for Thursday night at Birdy’s with Gallo, our touring friends! What a great opportunity to help build their audience by bringing out our music loving hoosiers as well as for us opening up for a killer group!
